When a hummingbird buzzes into your wedding tent, you know the day is destined to be something truly magical. Julien and Charlotte’s tented waterfront wedding in Marion, Massachusetts felt exactly like that—a real-life fairytale unfolding at Charlotte’s grandmother’s beloved summer home overlooking Sippican Harbor.
Their vision was romantic, whimsical, and deeply personal—perfect for couples dreaming of a tented wedding at a parents’ or grandparents’ beach house in Southeastern Massachusetts, Little Compton, Rhode Island, or Westport, MA. The color palette of soft lilac, dusty purple, white, and layered greens felt effortlessly at home against the coastal landscape, blending elegance with nostalgia.

Every detail was thoughtfully chosen to reflect who Julien and Charlotte are together. Butterflies, vintage books, castles, and storybook motifs appeared throughout the day, paired with dimensional florals, romantic candlelight, and intentional design moments that made guests feel like they had stepped into a storybook.
Their alfresco waterfront ceremony took place on the great lawn, set apart from the reception tent and nestled within a grove of cedar trees. The setting felt intimate and organic—one of the many reasons private home weddings and tented receptions are so beloved along the South Coast. After the ceremony, guests meandered back toward the tent for cocktail hour, soaking in harbor views and summer breezes.

Charlotte’s wedding dress was reminiscent of a Scottish fairytale, complete with flowing sleeves and an enchanting floral greenery crown. Julien’s look featured beautiful sleeves and intricate lace—elegant, romantic, and timeless.
The wedding cake was a true centerpiece: a three-tier lavender buttercream cake rich with storybook charm. Hidden Mickeys were delicately piped along the sides, while romantic banners read “and they lived happily ever after” in whimsical purple script. Shades of lilac, dusty mauve, and soft violet florals added depth and movement, with fragrant lavender sprigs providing the perfect finishing touch.

A glowing white castle topper sat atop a silver plateau, giving the illusion of a fourth tier and elevating the entire design. But the most magical detail was tucked behind the cake: handcrafted edible book spines with edible pages, inspired by Beauty and the Beast. Vintage-style books peeked out from the back, each titled with meaningful phrases—Everywhere Always, With You For You, Together Forever, and 2021 to Infinity. Soft blue, purple, and ivory tones tied seamlessly into the overall wedding palette.
Julien and Charlotte’s vision for a romantic, whimsical, fairytale tented wedding by the water came together in the most heartfelt and elegant way. Their day was proof that weddings at family waterfront homes—when thoughtfully designed—are some of the most meaningful celebrations of all.
